In 1993, we started Malia Mills with a simple idea –
to engineer tops by bra size, to cut bottoms to SHOW OFF
a variety of shapes… to EMPOWER women to stand and
stride to the water.
Today, we have a designer SWIMWEAR COLLECTION
created for the vixen within. We also have a fresh collection of READY TO WEAR, LINGERIE and delicious ACCESSORIES - all LOVINGLY MADE IN AMERICA and curated in Malia Mills boutiques across the country.
We’re passionate about CELEBRATING women and articulating an inspiring voice on the subject of WOMEN and beauty.
A big shout out to YokiShop, our neighbors in Newport, California. Beautiful Georgia, the daughter of Jeff, the owner of YokiShop, looks spectacular in our blue floral swimcap!
YokiShop is helmed by Jeff Yokoyama (aka Yoki) who was the founder of Maui and Sons, Modern Amusement, and Pirate Surf prior to opening his namesake store. Under his guise, Jeff oversees 3 different lines that he creates for YokiShop: Pidgeon Orange, Generic Youth, and a collaboration they have with the USC athletic department. With an exceptional eye for detail, Jeff has curated his store to feature some of the most well-crafted surf sportswear for men in addition to a few select pieces from his own vintage archives. YokiShop epitomizes the Southern California surf culture with one-of-a-kind pieces that are repurposed from beach towels and even old USC football jeresys. Jeff and co. follows a philosophy similar to that of Malia Mills by lovingly producing all of their products in America. Most YokiShop garments are created in-house and even their screen printing is done locally.
Like MM, they guys at YokiShop are large supporters of local businesses and brands. As small business, they run a tight ship with only a staff of 3: Jeff, the owner, Sergio, who cuts and sews all the pieces, and Scott, who handles sales in-store and online. With everyone on the team having a hand in all aspects of the company, there isn’t a day where you won’t find Jeff at his store- ringing up customers or just chatting up the passing joggers about his brand.
it was an evening of great cheer, great wine, great views and best of all great friends. last night, all of our fabulous nyc store and studio gals gathered together to toast to the holiday spirit. holiday hugs with old friends and big wishes for the new year filled the air. a totally chi-tastic night!
chilly autumn afternoons, cold snowy days, breezy beach nights… a rad scarf could possibly be the perfect holiday gift.
add a pop! of color to any outfit. de-plane in style!
cheers to our fabulous gals at our marin store for a tantalizing scarf display. hurry! these beauties from epice and lem lem are selling like hotcakes - come grab yours today!
introducing a pair of pants named after a fearless woman who needs no introduction — the amelia pant. talk about a great pair of tailored pants! inspired by one of our favorite fashion icons — a true feminist, a pioneer in flight and a gal who really knew how to rock a pair of trousers; we’re raising a seam, lifting a pant leg, and tapering a cuff to miss earhart here. we’ve reinvented our coveted tomboy shorts in her honor. we think she’d dig em with an oxford shirt, an over-sized leather jacket and some badass boots.
these beauties feature a high-rise waist and double-zip entry, aerodynamic back pockets, ultra flattering seaming, and a slim, slightly tapered bottom leg that gives rise to a box pleat. not to mention, a jodhpur nod with some extra room throughout the thigh. a total delight these are!
fantasizing of sun and sand on a chilly nyc day. our gal kati, manager of our montecito store, snapped this dreamy moment at hollywood beach in oxnard, california. we’re swooning over the “winter wonderland” that is california in december!
Malia and I were so psyched to have been invited by Robin Mollicone, Pratt’s Assistant Fashion Chair, to critique the swimwear final projects at Steuben Hall earlier this week. We’ve had some fantastic design interns from Pratt over the years, and were thrilled at the chance to give back a little. The new facilities are so modern, long halls and large studios, big windows and sky lights. Such a bright and cheery place to be on such a cold, rainy December morning. The joint was buzzing with excitement and young talent. The third chapter of the Swimwear Class – the Fashion Suit – was our gig.We reviewed maillots and bikinis of myriad inspiration, one student project at a time, offering up our favorite design and construction tips. So much good stuff to talk about we forgot to snap some pics! So fun! Thank you, Pratt!
speeding uptown with lanterns for our new madison store… we curled around the ramp to the FDR and hit the gas. check out this hell yes view of brooklyn!

shout out to gloria steinem — check out new york magazine’s trip down memory lane, illustrating what our older sisters went through so we would have all the opportunities we have. it’s an amazing story, check it out here http://nymag.com/news/features/50175/index3.html
Edith A Miller is back, and she’s showing her stripes this Fall…
A new classic returns for the crisp weather. Chic, clean and lean; Fall’s fresh crop of stripey goodness is hitting Malia Mills stores this week. Pop in and outfit yourself in some of Edith’s easy basics before they’re all gone!
Founded in 2011 by New York gals Nancy Gibson and Jennifer Murray, Edith A. Miller was created for young-minded women who love and wear classics, yet live and dress beyond them. The collection is produced by one of the few remaining historic American knitting mills in rural Pennsylvania, with 6 generations of family operation behind it.
Made in the USA and too cute to boot, Edith A Miller is just the kind of good chi gal that we can get behind and stand beside. Find all of the new Edith A. Miller goods in stores now and coming soon to maliamills.com.
the odeon is 31! happy birthday to the most bad ass brasserie in town. stopped in for a late night burger last night and was surprised with some bubbly and spontaneous merriment — quintessential odeon, bien sur! in 1991, the odeon made it possible for a waitress with a dream. sewed by day, served up steak frites by night. waited on then editor in chief liz tilberis and thanked her for our very first harper’s bazaar feature — cindy crawford wearing our seamed briefs and corset top. served up a kir royale to anna wintour and high fived her for vogue’s two page feature story on malia mills. celebrated kathy ireland in sports illustrated with work mates, friends, family, and team mm in the back booth by the kitchen! i wrote our first business plan on the odeon computer in the basement office…it takes a village and this fine city is one helluva village! new york, new york big city of dreams! cheers to the odeon — we love you!
